Take a break

It’s been said that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. While that’s true in strong relationships, I think it’s also the case with art. My wife and I recently moved into a “fixer-upper” home. In the meantime, I’ve been involved with a Crown Theater Production that opened last night. Needless to say, my creative play time has been limited.

During my run this morning I noticed things - the muted winter colors - the cloud formations - the reflections off the park lake – in a way I haven’t seen for awhile. Then I realized how long it’s been since I’ve taken a photo walk. But I think this forced sabbatical wasn’t all bad. There are times when it’s good to step away from a project or take a break from a creative activity. Absence can make the heart grow fonder – in love and in art.

I thought this photo needed a little something - like a log cabin. And snow. And a vignette. And a paint effect. And a photo filter.... guess I got a little carried away...
